THINK Locally

Shelby Twp, MI Community

As Halloween approaches, the local Nature Center is gearing up to host a spectacular event that is sure to delight the entire family. This year, the center is transforming its sprawling grounds into a wonderland of fright and fun, perfectly suited for little goblins and ghouls. At the heart of the festivities are the Spooktacular Decorations that set the eerie mood, Festive Games that challenge and entertain, and the unique opportunity for Live Wildlife Meet & Greets. Adding to the excitement, guests can enjoy candy, sit by a cozy Bonfire & Roasted Marshmallows, indulge in treats from Food Trucks, and experience the “Ha Ha Halloween” show by Ventriloquist Richard Paul, which combines life-size puppets, magic, and music for a hauntingly hilarious time.

About The Event

The event proudly caters to all families, including those with young ones who may prefer a less intense Halloween experience. This year, the Nature Center introduces a new, sensory-friendly hour designed for individuals seeking a calm and quiet environment. This thoughtful addition allows participants to enjoy the event with overhead lights on, no strobing or flashing lights, and music turned off. During this special hour, families can still play games, meet adorable animal friends, including a furry friend from the Humane Society of Macomb, and chuckle along with the “Ha Ha Halloween” show in a more relaxed setting. It's a perfect example of the Nature Center's commitment to inclusivity, ensuring every guest leaves with joyful memories.

For those eager to join the Halloween bash, attention to logistical details will ensure a smooth experience. The event is affordably priced at $5 per resident and $7 per non-resident, with infants two and under welcomed for free. Pre-registration is highly recommended to facilitate a quicker check-in and keep attendees informed of any event updates. The organizers have also structured the event to allow for flexibility in attendance; guests can register for a starting time slot and are welcome to arrive at any point within their designated timeframe, with the last entry at 7 PM and the festivities wrapping up by 8 PM. Dates for the event are set for October 18th and 19th, making it a fantastic way to dive into the Halloween spirit mid-month.

See You There

The Nature Center's Halloween bash offers a wholesome, merry-not-scary experience that captures the essence of fall and the fun of Halloween in a family-friendly setting. Whether it's the lure of delicious marshmallows by the fire, the thrill of games, the magic of live shows, or the charm of meeting wildlife, there's something special for every family member. Not to mention, the inclusion of a sensory-friendly hour highlights the community's spirit of accessibility and joy for all. Mark your calendars and register early to secure your spot at this must-attend Halloween event.
